Villa Padova: the creativity
of materials as a
design language
Villa Padova began with the idea of transforming surfaces into true design elements that define spaces and volumes. Designed in Padua by Architect Maila Borile, the home explores the expressive potential of the Emilgroup collections through a design vision that takes materials beyond their traditional function, making them an integral part of the architecture. This approach earned the project an award in the Creativity category at the 2026 Emilgroup Project Awards.
At the heart of the project is the Tele di Marmo Lumia collection, interpreted through its three shades to maximize its design potential. The 120×278 cm slabs in the Golden Ambra shade feature on the living room wall, transforming it into a visually striking element, while the Labradorite shade is used for one of the bathrooms. With Ivory Gioiello, the collection extends to the flooring throughout the entire home and to architectural elements such as staircases, fully showcasing the design versatility of Emilgroup surfaces.
Tele di Marmo Onyx by Emilceramica, in the Onyx Black and Onyx Blue shades, is used for bathroom wall coverings and washbasins, creating coordinated solutions. In the outdoor spaces, Cornerstone by Ergon in the Slate Multicolor shade, in the 45×90 cm size with a 20 mm thickness, was chosen for the villa’s paths, blending seamlessly with the home’s architectural style.
The combination of different collections, applications, and finishes results in a cohesive and distinctive design, where creativity is expressed through an original use of materials, lending character to every room in the villa.
